Triangulation Research is a program studying what happens when two ways of answering the same medical question disagree.
- Diagnostic Boundaries. Two sets of diagnostic criteria for one disease can diagnose different patients, from Alzheimer’s disease and multiple sclerosis to psychiatric disorders.
- Cross-Design Evidence. An observational study and a genetic study of the same drug target can disagree about whether the target matters.
- Ecological Inference. An estimate pooled across hospitals can measure a different quantity from the effect in any one patient.
Each paper analyzes its disagreement: where it comes from, and what evidence would settle it.
